However, the cultists were misguided. They misunderstood. But now, under new leadership, the cult believes that the prophecy does not speak of undead dragons, but of a dragon empire that's been extinct for 25,000 years. Tiamat, the queen of evil dragons, has languished in the Nine Hells for millennia. The cult believes that the time of her return is at hand. The cult has a new face and a new mission. It seeks to free Tiamat from the Nine Hells and bring her into the Forgotten Realms. To accomplish its goal, the cult needs five ancient dragon masks and the support of evil dragons everywhere. The cult leaders—each one a "dragon whisperer"—have reached out to the evil dragons of the Sword Coast and earned their allegiance. Meanwhile, evil dragons in partnership with the cult seek to amass a treasure hoard worthy of their dark queen, not by plundering their own hoards (of course) but by stealing money from cities, caravans, good-aligned dragons, merchant ships, and other sources. Their ravenous hunt for treasure throws the Sword Coast into upheaval. Neverwinter, Waterdeep, Baldur's Gate—no city is safe from their depredations. The situation is dire. However, the Sword Coast is far from defenseless. Powerful factions are ready to rise up and put an end to the tyranny of dragons. Adventurers throughout the Realms must join forces to face Tiamat, destroy the Cult of the Dragon, and prevent the rise of a new dragon empire. The Harpers have since shared their intelligence with the remaining factions. To combat the Cult of the Dragon, Lord Dagult Nevervember of Neverwinter proposes that adventurers representing each of the five factions be sent north to investigate—and to report back with haste. In their hands, the future lies. This is a long-term campaign for 4-6 players running from level 1-15 using the Tyranny of Dragons modules set, Which begins at Horde of the Dragon Queen, leading into Rise of Tiamat. The adventure is expected to last about 1 to 2 years (Depending on party play style) with a 3-4 hour session per week. Since this is a pay to play game, you'll have the following extras on top of the usual Dungeons and Dragons experience: - Full access to the compendium for contents I own on Roll20 - Immersive dynamic lighting and music - Ability to use API scripts - Out of game assistance and support - Adaptable campaign that fit around the parties actions and choices Newcomers to both Dungeons & Dragons and Roll20 are welcome. Tiamat ( pronounced : /ˈtia ː ma ː t/ TEE-a-mat ) was the lawful evil dragon goddess of greed, queen of evil dragons and, for a time, reluctant servant of the greater gos Bane and later A smodeus . Before entering the Faerûnian pantheon , she was a member of the D raconic pantheon , and for some time she was also a member of the Untheric pantheon . Tiamat was also the eternal rival of her brother Bahamut, ruler of the good metallic dragons. As a unique type of chromatic dragon with the traits of the five most common chromatic varieties, Tiamat was a foe to be reckoned with in battle. Along with all the standard powers and godly senses of a deity of her rank, those who saw her fight claimed that her heads were able to cooperate in battle, and that those heads had the ability to use the breath weapons and spell-like abilities common to their species. Although her sheer size prevented claw and kick attacks while on the ground, she was adept at their use while flying. She also had a stinger on her tail that injected a powerful venom on her foes, killing them in agonizing pain.
The Cult of the Dragon , also called the Dragon Cult and the Followers of the Scaly Way and, by the early 1370s DR, the Wearers of Purple , was a semi-religious evil organization venerating undead dragons , or dracoliches , founded by Sammaster , a powerful wizard and former Chos of Mystra like Elminster and Khelben "Blackstaff" Arunsun . Their belief was that dracoliches were destined to one day rule Faerûn and beyond and that it was their purpose to help this come to pass. They were considered to be a secret society or a beast cult, albeit an overly large and powerful one, and as a mercantile and criminal enterprise
The Harpers , or Those Who Harp , were a semi-secret organization dedicated to preserving historical lore, maintaining the balance between nature and civilization, and defending the innocent from the forces of evil across the Realms. The Harpers involved themselves in many world-changing events that helped shape the course of Faerûn 's destiny. Their power and influence waxed and waned over the years, as their order underwent a series of collapses and reformations. Their reputation amongst the people of the Realms varied just as wildly. They were often seen as wild-eyed idealists, but also just as often seen as insufferable meddlers who could not keep their business to themselves.
The Order of the Gauntlet was a coalition of morally upstanding warriors, knights, paladins and clerics who dedicated themselves to the destruction of evil in Faerûn in the 15 th century DR. They were a unified group, bonded by either their fervent religious beliefs or staunch dedication to enforcing justice in the realms. To these brothers and sisters in arms, evil had to be dealt with and could not be ignored. Members of the order were strong in their faith, using it to stand against evil forces. While this faith ranged from believing in one's personal god, it extended also to those considered close friends, and especially to oneself. Most often, Knights of the Gauntlet venerated either the God of Guardians, Helm; two of the deities of the Triad, Torm and Tyr; as well as the Poet of Justice, Hoar.
